Well it’s official! I finished my first marathon on my 26th birthday, Nov. 26. Not a bad way to kick off my golden birthday. :) I wish my time had been better, but given my poor quad I’ll take just finishing. Now it’s all about planning for the next one.

Rain kept us off of the fields again today. Laid off of the sprints with the rest of the gang, but did a fair amount of running around. Lots of abs and arms in between, so not a bad work out.

Actually more like a short run at this point, but the campers disagreed. :) There was a time when I would have thought that too, but not anymore.
I switched the brace from my right knee to my left so I could support the VMO a little bit better but by the end it was still sore. Had the appointment that evening with Dr. Nik. Apparently these little knee strap things are not good for you and probably caused some of the soreness at the end. DARN IT. He stretched everything out though. Hips and knees popping left and right. Crossing my fingers that it all works in time.

Run through park with bands. Push ups in between.

Saw chiro today. VMO and calf strain. 3 sessions scheduled before marathon. 1 after. Owweee. Cleared to run though and already feeling better.

After resting this weekend to give my calf time to heal up from Friday’s locked up joints, I took it easy on my workout today. Made sure not to minimize the stair work and when possible I used alternate exercises to reduce impact. Running actually felt ok, except for a minor twinge on the way up the hill back. Minor twinge now probably means major pain on race day. Booked appointment with chiro just to be on safe side. TLC until then.
